Our
Commitment

Mississauga Health is committed to improving equity and advancing truth and reconciliation. We recognize the importance of fostering meaningful relationships with local Indigenous communities including the Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee Nations, and treaty holders, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, to create a health system that respects and reflects the unique and diverse needs and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples.

Currently, Mississauga Health engages on a monthly basis with Ontario Health Team partners, Ontario Health, and the Indigenous Primary Health Council to ensure a collaborative approach in building a foundation for our path towards truth and reconciliation. We continue to actively seek and build relationships with local Indigenous organizations through participation in cultural and educational events, as well as promoting opportunities that empower our partners with knowledge and respect for Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

Central to our approach is the development of an Indigenous-led advisory circle, aimed at centering Indigenous voices in ways that are meaningful to Indigenous Peoples, to provide guidance on Mississauga Health’s advancement of truth, reconciliation and Indigenous health.
